About Us

We are two sisters, Sarah and Kat!  We grew up, in a family of six kids with an open door policy.  I think it is safe to say we are both accustomed to sharing our space and now we are sharing this little slice of the world wide web.  We are looking forward to trying our best to make each other laugh a little and we hope all our sisters join us. We'll have endless space to share what is top of mind... our daily victories, trials and tribulations, showcase our breathtaking talents, wit, charm, beauty, depth and brains… don’t forget about our very big brains! Through it all we hope to inspire each other while we find ourself.

Our first blog name was "That's What She Said"... abbreviated to TWSS so you might find some of those references herein.

To avoid the misery of writing our own bio, it is our pleasure to introduce one another:

About Kat

by Sarah

“Here she comes!”  That’s What She (I) Said… when I was honored to witness Kat bring Layla into this world.  Those are the words I may have uttered aloud. In my head I said, “How the hell is my little baby sister doing this, and she is so zen and confident and smiling, and looks so pretty!?” It is one of the most special things I have ever witnessed and not just because of the miracle of human life (blah blah) but because it changed my relationship with Kat forever.

Kat is… well, she is… how do I put this… my amazing little sister!  Sorry, but I can’t really describe her without pointing out first that I indeed came first. (TWSS)  And she wasn’t second or third. She was five (of 6).  Just as we used to steer Prentis around by his head as a toddler, we pretty much tried to steer Kat around with our advice (“been there done” that speeches) for most of her life.  Until she got sick of all that, I imagine she looked up to us. Magic happened recently; the switch when all of a sudden, we all became full blown adults and (…wait for it…) I started to really look up to her.  Now, daily, I go to Kat for inspiration and wisdom…. and to laugh and cry and to ask her how to do something on the computer.  She has all kinds of cool things going on and all with an east coast spin (no Pahk the Caaa in the Haavhad yhad accent yet though).   I love to hear about her latest attempt at her latest mission (ei. to make some new mom friends, she googled and contacted some “moms” there and ended up at a sex toy party with a bunch of girls she had never met.)  When she first moved out to Boston, I was worried about her being away from all the comforts of “home”.  I soon learned that she had the best comfort of the all in a fantastic relationship with Mike! (“right sweety?”)

When you first meet her, you can’t NOT (double negative!) notice how gorgeous she is.  Afterall, she is the sister who blessed with the blonde hair and blue eyes.  You soon find out that her beauty is not skin deep.  I am trying to think about how Kat might describe herself. Her resume contains being a wife and a mother, a daughter, sister and a grandaughter, cousin, aunt and niece- and recently, all those plus the word “in-law”.  The relationships in her life speak volumes.  She is there for everyone and at the same time she is very independent (she does what she want, when she want).  She is a do-er! (TWSS) and thus this blog!  But enough with the virtual ego stroking. I am hoping that through this blog, I can start to boss her around again.  I look forward to translating our sister-love language while we talk about coupons and party themes and million dollar ideas.  Its gonna be HUGE!  And… That’s What She (Sarah) Said :)

About Sarah

by Kat

“Hurry, shes coming!”  (Thats What She (I) Said) and the last words I remember saying to Sarah while I was in labor. I wasn’t about to experience such an amazing moment in my life with her being only 30 minutes away. Mike and I had a long talk about allowing someone to be in the room with us. He didn’t want to be overpowered. I recall my exact words were “It’s not in Sarah’s character to step on anyone’s toes. She will probably be in such awe that she will only be crying and not talking.” How crazy that I know my sister that well and it is exactly what happened.

I can’t remember when I starting trying to be my oldest sister. not BE LIKE… but actually be her. From stealing clothes (she knew sometimes), to watching the same TV shows so we had MORE then usual to talk about or actually wanting her daughters. But I can remember the time I took her two beautiful daughters out to the store hoping someone would think they were mine. I would go down useless aisles because I knew someone was there, and I would lick my finger and wipe Mea’s face (as I have seen Sarah do many times before, and promised that I would never do that to my own daughter.. but 4 months into Layla’s life, I already have) and make a smart “mom comment” about how “maybe you can get a treat if you behave at this store!” Then I would turn to the other customer and give her the “you know how children are” look.

I have wanted to be Sarah for many years now. From when I was a little girl, acting like a cheerleader in the shower or visiting her at Michigan State (GO SPARTANS!) and returning to school singing the fight song as if I was a Spartan. I not only wanted to be her, but I wanted to beat her at doing the cool things she talks about. ie: she created this symbol with all our siblings initials and was planning on getting it as a tattoo. well I took that symbol to the parlor and got it on my ankle without telling anyone.  I came to them to see the final product and she never ended up getting it.

One Point- Kat

Zero Points- Sarah :)

Now that I have moved to Boston and I can’t follow Sarah around,  I have already found myself turning to Sarah for motherly advice as well as wifey advice. “What are you cooking for dinner? Can I make that in the next hour?”  But I have to say it is very re-assuring when I receive a phone call from Sarah asking for something.  It makes me feel like an adult now and not just her annoying little sister who sits at the bottom of the stairs of her high school parties waiting to be asked to join. But now I feel as though Sarah and I are throwing that party and excited to invite anyone who wants to join our crazy ideas!

Sarah has an amazing head on her shoulders that has great intentions of making everyone feel needed/wanted/useful and loved.  From making crafts at her Moms’ Group, to being part of the National Stuttering Associate and conducting 5 younger siblings to success… we all look up to her for many reasons, and she always finds the correct cure.  She always finds time for anyone who needs her, and keeping herself and her family happy at the same time. She is my hero, my superwoman and I wouldn’t want to even think about my life without her.

This blog has been an idea in the making for many years and its time to get the juices flowin! (TWSS)
